Environmental Impact Assessment
Environmental Impact Assessment is a planning tool for determining the impact of the project to the environment and the mitigating measures that the proponent should implement. To ensure that such measures are executed at the earliest possible stage of the project, and the proponents comply with the requirements of the Philippine Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) System. Proponents are encouraged to apply for an Environmental Compliance Certificate (ECC) while processing their Feasibility Study for PEZA Registration.
The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) is the lead agency that issues the ECC. The PEZA Environmental Safety Group (ESG) provides technical assistance to locator enterprises in complying with the requirements of the Philippine EIS System. Through the PEZA-DENR Memorandum of Agreement, procedural review and site validation of the ECC application for non-Environmentally Critical Projects is conducted by PEZA. Through the cooperative efforts of both agencies, ECCs can be issued as early as 20 working days from date of submission.
