Criteria
To qualify for the PEP Awards, a company must have fulfilled the following criteria:
- Implemented and adopted Environmental Management Systems (EMS) according to PNS 1701, ISO 14001, BS 7750 or other systems employing the Plan-Do-Check-Act framework;
- Documented sustained compliance with environmental regulations appropriately;
- Demonstrated continued improvement in waste management, energy, materials or water use, air pollution prevention, preservation/restoration, water discharges, accidental releases, etc.; and,
- Executed environmental projects or outreach programs.
Categories
The PEP Award has three categories:
Category 1
Top environmental performer locator enterprises in Large Enterprises Group (companies with asset size of more than one hundred million pesos [Php 100, 000, 000])*
Category 2
Top environmental performer locator enterprises in Small and Medium Enterprises Group (companies with asset size of more than three million pesos [Php 3, 000, 000] but not greater than one hundred million pesos [Php 100, 000, 000])*
Category 3
Top Developer-Operator environmental performer

Mechanics
- The start of PEP Award will be officially announced every year through all PEZA Zone Administrators/Managers, PEZA Website, or this website.
- Entry forms shall be submitted NOT LATER THAN THE DEADLINE (view the PEP Award Schedule of Activities) to the Environmental Safety Group at PEZA Head Office or to the corresponding PEZA Zone Offices for pre-screening.
(The Environmental Safety Group serves as PEP Award Technical [PAT] Committee which is tasked for the pre-screening of the entry forms and on-site audit of qualified participants.)
- Qualified participants shall be audited on-site to check for the following:
- Actual environmental systems, projects/programs
- EMS documents, permits, reports and other documents
- The nominees shall be evaluated based on the following:
- Adherence to the PEP Award's Criteria
- Effort/difficulty on the part of the nominees in attaining environmental performance
- Effective contribution of each criterion in attaining sustained environmental protection
- For Category 3 , Developer-Operator's roles in implementing eco-industrial development with direct impacts on social and environmental aspects
- The weight for each criterion is as follows:
Top environmental-performers in each category shall be announced and awarded during the PEZA Anniversary (Investors' Night).
Entry Form
The entry form for PEP Award shall include the following:
- Accomplished PEP Award Nomination Form;
- Authenticated copy of the Environmental Management System (EMS) Manual;
- A summary of the EMS;
- Authenticated copy of the Certification (for ISO 14001 or BS 7750 certified companies) or the accomplished EMS Elements Form (for companies without third party certifications);
- Brief of the environmental project/s or outreach program of the company, including photos if available; and,
- Audited Financial Statements for the current and previous year.
