| PEZA-EID Eco-Forum Series
What is an Eco-Forum?
An Eco-Forum is a venue to facilitate the process of providing solutions to issues in industrial estates and ecozones. It provides a method to information exchange and dissemination ensuring a more precise collection of inputs from participants and stakeholders. This helps us respond to concerns more effectively and systematically. An Eco-Forum is designed to ensure that participants interact thus facilitating a formation of partnerships and possibly joint activities.
What issues are discussed in a PEZA-EID Eco-Forum?
Although the “eco” in Eco-Forum may suggest that participants and stakeholders exclusively tackle environmental management concerns, these sessions may also focus on economic (i.e. water pricing or the cost of hazardous waste transport) and social issues (social acceptability and community relations). Policy updates and implementation are often discussed in PEZA-EID Eco-Forums, however, it can also be a venue to come up with new projects to address issues in industrial estate management.
How can you benefit from the PEZA-EID Eco-Forum?
Eco-Forums build partnerships within an industrial estate. Attending an Eco-Forum will help you recognize that your environmental, social, and economic issues may be similar to your neighbors in the industrial estate. Engaging in the sessions will empower you and other locators to come to collective and strong positions regarding issues that directly affect you.
Eco-Forums also serve as venues for updates in laws and policies. The sessions bring you face-to-face with implementers to thresh out issues on the implementation of guidelines. This will help you bring your concerns to those involved to help facilitate better compliance and lessen implementation roadblocks that usually plague new guidelines.
How can you participate in PEZA-EID’s Eco-Forums?
Participation in Eco-Forums are open to all locators and stakeholders in an industrial estates or ecozones. PEZA-EID regularly conducts Eco-Forums to disseminate information and to gather ideas from the participants that would help them implement policies and develop services for locators.
